End-of-Summer Boat Maintenance

Sep 23, 2026

Summer may be winding down, but the fishing doesn’t have to. Before heading into the fall season, give your Robalo a quick inspection to make sure it’s ready for every cast, run, and adventure ahead.

Check Your Fish Systems

Start with the equipment you rely on most. Run your livewell, inspect hoses and fittings, and clear any debris that could restrict water flow. Clean out rod storage, tackle compartments, and the deck while checking rod holders, cleats, and other hardware for anything that may have loosened during the season.

Inspect the Outboard

After a summer of putting hours on the water, take a close look at your outboard. Check oil levels, fuel lines, filters, hoses, and the propeller for signs of wear or damage. If you've been fishing in saltwater, give the engine and exposed components a thorough freshwater rinse.

Power Up Your Electronics

Your electronics are essential when you're finding fish or navigating unfamiliar water. Test your GPS, fish finder, VHF radio, and other onboard systems. Check connections for corrosion and make sure your charts and software are up to date.

Check the Battery and Bilge

Inspect battery terminals and connections, then make sure your batteries are holding a proper charge. Clean the bilge and remove any standing water, fishing line, bait residue, or debris that could cause problems later.

Get Ready for Fall

A little maintenance now means more time for fishing later. With your Robalo cleaned, checked, and ready to run, all that's left is to load the tackle, grab your gear, and take advantage of the cooler days ahead.
